The number of new cases reported daily provides a strong indication of the virus’ spread in the community. Normalization of the new cases by population allows for comparison of COVID prevalence, (the number of people in the community who are infected) across communities of differing sizes. For this indicator, we are adopting the Harvard Global Health Institute’s method of deciding how to analyze these values.
